Frequently Asked Questions

Here is some answers to questions I get asked regularly.

General Questions

When and where can I see my images?

My viewing and ordering session is approximately a 2-3 weeks after your session.  These take place at my cosy studio in Redbourn were you can see your images on a large screen without watermarks spoiling them.

Can I order frames and gift items from you?

Absolutely, I have a lovely range of print and framing options, from large wall pieces to desktop sized, which are ideal for gifts.

When I frame your images for you, I will be using photographic equipment which is calibrated to ensure accurate colour representation. I use professional print laboratories and wall art manufacturers who have the highest standards in production quality.

At your viewing session you can take the opportunity to look through all my product samples before placing any orders.

New-born Photoshoot Sessions

When is the best time to have a new-born session?

I recommend having a photo shoot when your baby is 4 – 14 days old to ensure the best moments are captured.

How long is a new-born session?

My newborn session is a time for you to relax, sit back whilst I photograph your precious bundle of joy. As I like to leave plenty of time for feeding and soothing baby these session typically last between 3 hours.

How do I book my photo session; the booking process explained.

If you had your maternity session with me, no session fee required. We can arrange a call together to go through how you are feeling and how baby is settling. I will then send you an electronic session contract; once the contract is returned your session date is secured.

If you did not have a maternity session with me I will send you an email with an electronic session contract and an invoice for your session fee. This can be paid via bank transfer, cheque or cash. Once the contract is returned and payment complete your session date is secured.

Do I need to bring anything?

I provide all props and setups including lovely wraps and beautiful new-born photographic outfits for baby to be photographed in. However, in our pre-shoot consultation we can discuss any special or sentiment items you would like to incorporate into your session. You might want to bring some of the items you were photographed in at your maternity session like baby’s booties.

What do I need to do in preparation for my newborn session?

I would like you to have relaxed session, and to achieve this I have found the following things work:

Please try and keep baby awake for a period for time before you leave for your session.

Please put your baby in a onezie that can be easily removed for us to start the shoot without disturbance to baby.

Regular feed top-ups are the norm throughout the session so please bring an extra feed or two if you are bottle feeding.

Please bring a couple of dummies if at all possible (even if baby just uses one occasionally) as this ca help sooth baby which being changed or moved. Keeping a happy baby during these times really helps to settle them back to sleep for the photos.

I have many lovely wraps and beautiful new-born photographic outfits for baby to be photographed in. However, please bring any outfits you would to have them in as well as a plain white vest.

Will my baby be warm enough in your studio?

My studio will be heated to the correct temperature for a baby to feel very comfortable whilst being changed.

Will I be able to have the dreamy snuggly poses of my newborn baby?

Yes, if baby is happy to do so. Please see What do I need to do in preparation for my newborn session’. This has some great tips for ensuring baby is happy to be photographed, changed and handle.

However, if your baby is a little older than 2 weeks old, they like to stretch out a little more so some of the poses might not be possible but I am very patient and will happily wait for baby to settle into the poses.

Will there be family photos included in a newborn session?

I like to incorporate some family photos into the session as this records the moment as you all as a new family. If you already have a child(ren) then I like to photograph family and sibling with your new-born baby at the start of the session. After this is done, one parent can take them home or go for a walk whilst I focus on the solo photos of baby.
